Mastodynia - Breast Pain, What It Means And How To Treat It

Breast changes are very common. From the beginning of breast development in girls with the onset of menstruation, until the third age, women may experience various types of pain. Changes occur naturally during periods, pregnancy and before or after menopause.

Palpable lumps, pain and tenderness in the breast may occur – this does not mean CANCER!

Μαστοδυνία

The breast consists of ducts and glands that lead to the nipple and areola area. The lactiferous ducts extend from the lower surface of the nipple radially throughout the breast and are the ones that fill with milk during the breastfeeding period. During puberty, under the influence of hormones, the pores grow and the amount of fat in the breast increases. The breast has no muscles, although under the breast there are important muscles that cover the ribs. These muscles in the case of very thin girls with small breasts may give the impression of lumps during self-examination.
