On the day of surgery you should be present at the hospital for at least one hour in advance or earlier if possible, at the Patient Reception & Assistance Department.

Typical procedures before admission

At the Patient Reception & Assistance Department you will be asked to fill in a form with your personal information. You must have your ID card with you, as well as any documents provided by your insurance company or healthcare fund for the purpose of covering the expenses of your hospitalization. Also, the department’s staff will inform you about the hospital’s pre-pay system. Then you will be assigned a hospital room.

Pre-operational checkup

Subsequently, you will be guided to the hospital room where the nursing staff will take your medical history. Please be ready and patient, as you will be probably have to answer the same questions more than one time. Despite our effort to be punctual and diligently keep the surgical schedule as it is, delays may sometimes occur. In this case, your doctor will provide the appropriate instructions to the charge nurse of the department in which you are hospitalized.

Preparing for surgery

Before surgery, you will be asked to wear a simple robe. If you have artificial dentures, wear contact lenses and jewelry, you will have to remove them. Also, women with polished nails should take appropriate measures and clean them before the surgery. You will be taken to the operating theater either on your bed or on a wheelchair. The nurse will guide you to the operating room.
