Apollonion Private Hospital cardiac catheterization and structural heart disease department had a very fruitful week very recently. During this, a number of innovative and challenging procedures were successfully performed.
More specifically the following procedures were done within a few days:
· transcatheter aortic valve implantation via femoral artery access in an elderly patient with multiple co-morbidities
· percutaneous closure of a patent foramen ovale in a young female patient with recurrent stroke
· coronary angioplasty to an un-protected left main stem, guided by intravascular ultrasound in a patient with an acute coronary syndrome and haemodynamic instability
