PAYMENT OF TREATMENT EXPENSES
If the treatment expenses at the Apollonion Private Hospital will be covered by the patient, then he/she will be asked on admission to pay part of the treatment expenses in advance. If the total of the treatment expenses is smaller than the prepaid amount on admission, then the difference will be reimbursed to the patient at his/her release. If the amount for the treatment is greater than the amount prepaid on admission then the patient will be asked to pay the remaining sum on release.
All medical insurance policies are accepted at the Apollonion Private Hospital. Before admission, the patient must hand in documentation of the insurance company at the Admissions Office situated at the ground floor, so that the coverage of the medical expenses by the insurance company can be confirmed. The patient should also be aware that the medical insurance coverage is a contract between the patient and the insurance company and that the responsibility for the settlement of the medical expenses remains with the patient.
The Apollonion Private Hospital accepts all the Medical and Pharmaceutical Funds. On admission, the patient is responsible to hand in to the Admissions Office the document of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Fund that he/she is covered by, and to pay the amount not covered by the Fund for his/her treatment.
Undertaking of responsibility by a third party.If the expenses for the medical treatment of the patient will be paid by an embassy, a business or any other patron, the patient must produce documentation proving that the financial responsibility is borne by the patron. Finally the patient must be aware that the responsibility for the settlement of the medical expenses is his/hers.
Mode of PaymentPayment can be effected either in cash, by personal cheque or credit card.
Undertaking of financial responsibilityThe Apollonion Private Hospital requires that additionally a relative, or any other person, signs an undertaking for the responsibility of paying the medical expenses.
MEDICAL INFORMATIONYou should have with you a copy of any medical information connected with your treatment e.g. X-rays, diagnoses, examinations results, for assessment by your doctor.
PHARMACEUTICAL TREAMENT You should have with you, or you should know, the medication you are taking, so that it is taken into consideration for your treatment. It will be returned to you when released. Also inform your doctor for the drugs without subscription (general use, homeopathic, herbs and others) that you have taken during the last three months and which you continue taking or you may not be taking any more.

THE DAY BEFORE YOUR OPERATIONMake certain that you have completed your preoperational check, in accordance with your doctor’s instructions. The day before the operation you may eat freely up to the evening and carry on with your usual activities. However, the evening before the operation it is advisable to have a light meal and try to sleep fairly early.
ON ADMISSION DAYWAY OF ADMISSIONThrough the Admissions Office (Office number 138, tel. 22 469138). Through the Outpatients Department/Emergency Ward (22469000) for urgent admissions, as well as during night hours (after 21.00). In order to effect a scheduled admission, your doctor or yourself, should communicate with the Admissions Office and give:

OPERATION DAYOn the day of operation you should present yourself at the Hospital at least one hour, or even more, before the due time, at the Admissions Office (Office number 138, tel. 22469138). There, you will be asked to fill in a form with your personal data and you will be allocated your treatment room.
Following that you will be taken to your treatment ward where the ward nurses will carry out their preoperational check. You should be ready and patient to answer the same questions probably many times.
Despite our efforts to adhere punctually to the operating theatre schedule, it is possible that there may be a delay; because of this you should be patient. If a delay is expected for the operation, your doctor may give instructions for administering to you intravenous fluids, or any other instructions, depending on the case of the particular patient.
Before the operation you will be asked to put on a simple gown. If you have dentures, contact lenses or jewellery, you should remove them. Also, the ladies that have polished nails should have them cleaned before the operation.
You will be taken to the operating theatre either in your bed or on a wheel chair. The nurse will lead you to the operating area.
ON YOUR ARRIVALOn reaching the Apollonio proceed to the Admissions Office on the ground floor. There, you will be asked to state your personal data as well as information about your insurance coverage. The staff of the Admission and Patients Services Section will assist you with filling in all necessary forms.
IF YOU ARE TAKING DRUGS. If you are taking tablets on a systematic basis (antiarrhythmic, antihypertensive, cardiological or others) you should inform your doctor, and if considered necessary, he will give you instructions as for what tablets you should take with a little water before the operation.If you are taking aspirin, anticoagulants or any similar drugs you should inform your doctor (if you already have not done so).
IF YOU SMOKE If you smoke you should stop, at least prior to the operation, in order to reduce the risks of respiratory infections.

VISITS Beloved persons play an important role in the therapeutic process and the speedy recovery. For this reason we encourage the family and friends to come visiting. Of course, particular attention is needed regarding the number of visitors (no more than one visitor per patient should be present simultaneously).
Visiting Schedule
There are instances during which visits are not allowed or should be limited, such as the visit by a doctor, the medical and treatment procedures or even for the patients’ rest when considered by the medical and nursing personnel.
For the benefit of the patients, please ask your relatives not to visit you in case they have a cold or any other contagious disease.
NUTRITION Proper and hygienic nutrition is a basic part of the patient’s treatment and it is necessary for his/her speedy recovery after an operation or after an illness.
Our aim is to promote hygienic nutrition and ensure that all patients receive a nutritionally balanced diet during their stay at the Apollonio Hospital.
Meals Schedule
During the whole day from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. a member of the staff offers various beverages to the patients.
RELEASE DAYYour doctor decides about the day of your release from the Apollonio Hospital. You are advised to inform the nursing staff about your release, as soon as your doctor informs you about it. On the same day, a member of the accounts section will contact you for the purpose of informing you so that you make arrangements for settling your account.
We shall take care of your release and the whole procedure, so that you may leave the soonest possible. However, you should allow us some time for preparing all the necessary documents.
